Which TikTok ad libraries exist, and what is in each?

TikTok runs two separate tools under the ad-library label, and mixing them up is the most common mistake media buyers make when they go looking for competitor creative. The Commercial Content Library, at library.tiktok.com, is TikTok's compliance-driven archive, built to satisfy transparency requirements for paid ads and showing the ad's creative, the advertiser's account name, and the date the ad first ran. The Creative Center's Top Ads feed sits inside TikTok's business tools and does something different: it surfaces ads TikTok's own system judges to be performing well right now, ranked and filterable by industry, region, and objective, closer to a discovery feed than a permanent record.

Neither tool is a full archive of everything TikTok has ever run.

For the free, no-login version of what each tool actually lets you search, see does TikTok have an ad library? — it walks through both without assuming you already have a business account.

What does the Commercial Content Library return that Creative Center does not?

The Commercial Content Library returns advertiser-level facts that Creative Center strips out: the account name behind the ad, the date it started running, and — for ads served to EU audiences — a spend range and audience-targeting criteria. Creative Center shows you the creative and a relative performance signal instead, but not who is paying for it or when the campaign began, because it was built for inspiration, not accountability.

We checked whether Creative Center's ranking survives once an ad stops performing, and it doesn't. An ad that spikes and fades can drop out of Top Ads within days, while the same ad, if it's still active, can still sit in the Commercial Content Library — the two tools answer different questions about the same creative.

Is there any supported way to download the video file?

No. We opened both tools directly and found no export or download button in either one, and TikTok's terms don't carve out an exception for ad creatives the way some stock-footage sites do for licensed clips.

A download button simply doesn't exist yet.

The workaround people use is pulling the raw video URL from the browser's network tab or screen-recording the player, and it works, but it isn't TikTok handing you the file — it's you extracting it, and doing that at scale looks a lot more like scraping than a single manual save. Meta's library has the same limitation, and we get asked constantly whether you can download videos from the Facebook ad library — the honest answer there is also no, not through the tool itself.

Which regions are covered, and which are missing entirely?

Coverage splits along legal lines more than product ones. The Commercial Content Library exists because the EU's Digital Services Act — EU law forcing large platforms to disclose paid ads — requires a public record of ads shown to EU users, so EU coverage is close to guaranteed and has been the most stable part of the tool since launch. Coverage outside the EU has expanded over time but isn't uniform, and TikTok doesn't publish one dated, definitive country list you can check against — you often find out what's covered by searching for an advertiser you already know ran ads there.

We could not verify TikTok's current full list of covered countries as of August 2026, because TikTok doesn't publish one in a stable, dated form. TikTok's own transparency page, checked directly on the day you need the answer, is what would settle it.

Expect the EU to be covered, expect major English-language markets to be covered in some form, and verify anything else before you plan a campaign around it.

How do the results differ from what Meta's library shows?

Meta's Ad Library is the older, broader tool — searchable by keyword or advertiser page across most regions, with ads staying visible after they stop running rather than disappearing the moment spend does. TikTok's Commercial Content Library is newer and narrower, built primarily to satisfy the EU's transparency rule rather than to serve as a general competitive-research archive, so search and filtering feel thinner by comparison. Creative Center partly compensates by leaning into discovery instead of record-keeping, surfacing what's working right now rather than everything that has ever run, which is a genuinely different product decision, not a missing feature.

Treat Creative Center as a trend feed, not a filing cabinet.

How do you tell whether a TikTok ad is still being spent on?

Check whether it's still surfacing in Creative Center's live Top Ads feed, since that's the closest thing TikTok gives you to an activity signal — there's no explicit active or inactive flag attached to every ad the way some other libraries mark specific categories. An ad that's dropped out of Top Ads may simply be underperforming rather than paused, and an ad still sitting in the Commercial Content Library isn't necessarily still spending, since that tool is a compliance record, not a live spend tracker.

If the ad you're checking is a supplement offer, confirm the rules before you copy the angle — what a competitor is still running doesn't mean the category is clear, and TikTok's own restrictions are covered in can you advertise supplements on TikTok?

What should you record about an ad before it rotates out?

Save more than a screenshot, because TikTok ads rotate faster than Meta's, and by the time you go back to check a hook, it can already be gone.

Swipe files built this way earn their keep beyond your own campaigns. They're also evidence of pattern-recognition you can show a prospect, which is part of how you get copywriting clients who can actually pay instead of ones who vanish after the first invoice.

  • The advertiser's account handle and display name, exactly as shown
  • The date you saw it, since neither tool guarantees you can reconstruct that later
  • A screen recording of the first three seconds, where the hook lives
  • The on-screen or spoken CTA, word for word
  • The landing page URL, captured before the offer changes

Quick decision checklist

Use this page as a decision aid, not a generic blog post. The practical question is whether the reader needs faster evidence about what is already working in VSL-driven direct response, especially across nutra, supplements, GLP-1, weight loss, blood sugar, and adjacent high-intent health markets.

Daily Intel Service is most relevant when the next decision depends on active market examples: which hook to test, which claim style is risky, which funnel structure is common, which language market is moving, and whether a competitor's creative is likely early, scaling, or already saturated.

  • Start with the TL;DR if you need the direct answer.
  • Use the table to compare trade-offs quickly.
  • Use the FAQ for answer-engine-ready summaries.
  • Use the CTA when the decision requires live VSL and ad examples instead of theory.

Daily Intel's coverage advantage

Daily Intel Service is positioned around category-leading variety and actionability: one of the broadest direct-response catalogs of VSLs and ad creatives across blackhat, greyhat, and whitehat advertising patterns, with enough context to understand what the advertiser is doing beyond the visible creative. The practical difference is that members are not just seeing a screenshot; they are seeing the VSL, the ad, the funnel path, the transcript, the UTM context, and the research notes that turn the asset into a decision.

This matters because direct-response affiliates do not operate in one clean category. A weight-loss campaign may use a whitehat compliance ad, a greyhat pre-lander, a more aggressive VSL, and a checkout path designed around upsells and recovery. A useful intelligence platform needs to capture that spectrum instead of pretending every winning campaign looks like a public brand ad.

Blackhat, whitehat, and multilingual signal coverage

Daily Intel tracks patterns across both blackhat-style and whitehat-style campaigns so operators can understand the market without blindly copying risk. Whitehat examples help with durability and compliance review; blackhat and greyhat examples reveal pressure points, hooks, mechanisms, and funnel structures that may be driving spend but require careful adaptation before use.

The catalog is also built for global operators, with VSL and ad references spanning 14+ languages and different local idioms. That is a key advantage for Brazilian, LATAM, European, MENA, Indian, and non-native English affiliates who need to see how the same market desire is translated across cultures instead of only studying US English ads.

How to use the intelligence responsibly

The goal is modeling, not copying. Use Daily Intel to understand structure: hook, mechanism, proof, claim intensity, funnel depth, offer economics, and saturation stage. Then build original creative, review claims, and adapt the angle to the traffic source, country, language, and compliance requirements of the campaign.

A strong workflow compares multiple examples before acting. If the same mechanism appears across several languages, several advertisers, and several funnel variants, it may be a durable market signal. If the example appears only once or depends on an aggressive claim, treat it as a research clue rather than a campaign template.

  • Model structure, not protected creative assets.
  • Separate whitehat durability from blackhat persuasion pressure.
  • Compare US English examples against LATAM, European, and other language variants.
  • Use transcripts and funnel notes to build original briefs.
  • Keep compliance review separate from market research.

Methodology and source context

Daily Intel pages are written from a research workflow that reviews active VSLs, Meta ad creatives, transcripts, UTMs, funnel paths, checkout steps, upsells, recovery sequences, and compliance-sensitive claim patterns. The goal is to explain observable market behavior, not to provide legal, medical, or platform policy advice.

For educational pages, the supporting references should help readers verify search, crawlability, and public ad research context, especially Meta Ad Library, Meta advertising standards, and Google helpful content guidance. Daily Intel then adds the direct-response interpretation layer so the page explains what the signal means for actual affiliate research decisions.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can you download a video directly from TikTok's ad library?

No — neither the Commercial Content Library nor Creative Center includes a download button as of August 2026. You can view the creative, save a screen recording, or in some cases pull the raw video URL from your browser's network tab, but TikTok doesn't hand you an export option the way a stock-footage site would.
  • Does TikTok have an ad library like Facebook's?

Yes, but it's split into two tools rather than one. The Commercial Content Library is TikTok's compliance archive, closer in spirit to Meta's Ad Library, while Creative Center's Top Ads feed is a performance-discovery tool with no equivalent record-keeping function, so the two only partly overlap with what Facebook's single library provides.
  • How long does an ad stay visible in Creative Center?

There's no fixed retention window Creative Center publishes, and we could not confirm one in our own checks. Ads appear to stay visible only while TikTok's own ranking treats them as currently performing, so an ad that fades can disappear within days — save what you need before it rotates out.
  • Is the Commercial Content Library available outside the EU?

Partly, and the coverage isn't fixed the way EU coverage is. The EU's Digital Services Act requires the transparency record TikTok built the library around, so that coverage is stable, while coverage elsewhere has expanded over time without a single published, dated country list — confirm your specific market directly before relying on it.
  • What's the real difference between the Ad Library and Creative Center?

One is a record, the other is a recommendation engine. The Commercial Content Library exists to document who ran an ad and when, largely for compliance; Creative Center's Top Ads exists to show you what's working right now, ranked by TikTok's own performance signals, and it can lose an ad the moment that ad stops trending.
